New Market For Widget Company
Fifty Victoria residents are re-hired today for The National Widget Company. All employees across Canada who were initially laid off will be back at work within six weeks as the plants are expected to be operating at full capacity.
“We have sent recall notices to all employees who were laid off in June. As a family-owned company, it was heartbreaking to lay off so many loyal people so we are thrilled to be offering employment to people we consider part of the family.”
The company has seen a steady increase in sales and is pursuing new markets in China. Widgets need to be installed in every new building in China and NWC is the first company to make a deal with the country.
“The opening up of the Chinese residential market represents opportunity and a secure market on which to expand our capacity.”
The company is the oldest family owned business in Canada and has re-shaped their business platform by incorporating widgets in residential construction.

“The increase in sales has been unprecedented. We think this opportunity opens up enormous markets which will last for years.”
